Celebrate and Read This September!

September 4th is National Wildlife Day!  This day is dedicated to celebrating endangered species around the world and shine light on ways we can help. There are so many cool animals that exist and the best way to learn about them is by picking up a book! 

 

Are You Ready to Play Outside? by Mo Willems (Beginning Readers, Grades PreK-1)

September 6th is National Play Outside Day!  Take the day to go outside and play with your family and friends.  Play sports, have a scavenger hunt, maybe even take a walk to the library and pick out a great book to read outside. The possibilities are endless!

 

Pete the Cat and the Perfect Pizza Party by Kimberly and James Dean (Picture Book, Grades PreK-3)

September 5th is National Cheese Pizza Day! The best food ever has its own special day!  Celebrate by creating your own cheese pizza with all the toppings you can think of!  Invite your friends and family and make it a big party!

 

Elmer and The Lost Teddy by David McKee (Picture Book, Grades PreK-3)

September 9th is National Teddy Bear Day!  Our first best friend is our teddy bears and this day is dedicated to appreciating their companionship.  Take a picture with your teddy bear, read a book to them, or go on a fun adventure!

September 13th is National Peanut Day!  Peanuts are these delicious snacks that we use in so many different ways.  Whether that be a PB&J sandwich, served on top of an ice cream sundae, or even in your favorite noodles!  The possibilities are endless when it comes to peanuts and what better way to celebrate this day than reading about the history of peanuts!

September 19th is Talk Like a Pirate Day! Ahoy, matey!  Read about all the cool ways you can talk like a pirate!  Play pirates with your friends and make them walk the plank or go on a treasure hunt!

September 22nd is National Elephant Appreciation Day!  These large intelligent mammals are important to our ecosystem and we take this day to appreciate all they do for us.  Take the time to read about this amazing animal and learn about all the cool things they do.

September 25th is National Comic Book Day!  POW! BOOM! WOW! Dress up as your favorite superhero and celebrate the art, artists, and stories behind the comic books we love to read.

September 26th is National Pancake Day!  This yummy day is dedicated to raising money for charity and enjoying pancakes!  Make some pancakes with friends and family or read a book about pancakes.

September 30th is National Chewing Gum Day!  Learn about the history of chewing gum and how it came to be!  Share your favorite chewing gum with your friends and blow big bubbles together!
